How To: Add / Attach a Member Type

After you import your membership data into AMO, you may need to add an additional member type and connect it to an individual or organization.

To add a new member type,

1. Navigate to Member Management >> Member Types

2. Click the green plus button to add a new member type

3. Name Your Member Type (ex: Individual Gold, Individual Silver, etc.)

4. Under “Group” select Individual or Organizational.

5. Give Your Member Type a Description (Individual Gold – Basic membership, access to resource library, 2 free event tickets/yr etc.)

6. Add a Member Center Message (optional) – This message will appear in the member portal when a member first logs in

How To: Attach a Member Type to an Individual

Now that you’ve configured your individual member type, it’s time to tie it to an individual member.
1. Navigate to Member Management >> Individuals.

2. Search for the Individual
3. Click the “Edit” Icon next to their record


4. Click on the Profile Tab and scroll down to “Member Type”
5. Using the drop down Menu, select the specific member type


6. Be sure to complete your work by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking “Update Individual”

How To: Attach a Member Type to an Organization

1. Navigate to Member Management >> Organizations.

2. Search for the Organization
3. Click the “Edit” Icon next to their record


4. Click on the Profile Tab and scroll down to “Member Type”
5. Using the drop down Menu, select the specific member type


6. Be sure to complete your work by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking “Update Organization”
