CASE STUDY
Background:
For over 100 years, WPATH has been dedicated to furthering the understanding and treatment of gender identity disorders by providing a place for professionals to talk about research and treatment of gender dysphoria.
When WPATH first came to ArcStone, they needed a membership management solution. They wanted a centralized place to store their membership data, provide member resources, and inform members about upcoming events. They also desired a new web site design, but at the time they could not fit the cost into their budget.
Challenges:
- Member data was not all stored in one place which created "islands of information."
- Member data was often out of date. Updates required members to fax, mail, or call-in changes. Those changes were then manually keyed in by association staff; sometimes resulting in data entry errors.
- Some of the member data, particularly email addresses, was inaccurate.
- WPATH desired a website redesign along with the changes in membership management, but did not have budget to do so.
- Members did not have a quick and simple access point to member resources.
- Informing members about upcoming events was inefficient and disorganized.
Solution:
ArcStone fitted WPATH with ArcStone’s customizable association software, Association Management Online (AMO). This allowed them to keep all their membership data in one place, accessible from anywhere connected to the Internet.
The membership management software proved so successful that membership double over the course of a year – from about 200 members in 2005 to almost 500 members today.
With added revenue coming in through new membership dues, WPATH was able to allocate funds for the re-branding and redesign of the web site. ArcStone’s design team worked with WPATH to come up with a simple, clean, and friendly design that reflected WPATH’s values. Now WPATH serves as a resource for both members and non-members and deliver its message to the public.
